Thursday training
After a well-deserved day’s rest, the senior squad trained on Thursday evening at the Masia training grounds. The entire squad, with the exceptions of the injured trio of Eto'o, Deco and Edmílson, was present at the session.
The training session started at 6 pm accompanied by rain. Only Eto'o, Deco and Edmílson were missing due to injury.
Individual training plan for Messi
However, a number of players, such as Leo Messi, worked apart from the group. The Argentine striker spent the first few minutes on the pitch before heading back to the dressing room. Messi, who has played three matches in the last ten days, followed an individual programme.
Henry and Thuram also trained apart from the group under the supervision of one of the fitness coaches. Henry then continued in the gym.
Back from injury
One of the highlights of the session was the return of Rafa Márquez, who was able to take a full part in training. Meanwhile, Touré and Zambrotta, who had already trained with the squad on Sunday, also trained as normal. All three players are now nearing the end of their recovery programmes.
Lighter session
The Barça players who started the match against Rangers were treated to a lighter session lasting 45 minutes. The substitutes, together with goalkeepers Valdés and Jorquera, plus Márquez, Zambrotta and Touré, stayed longer to practice positional play.
