Thuram and Ezquerro called up
Frank Rijkaard has called up Lilian Thuram and Santi Ezquerro for the trip to Real Valladolid after Thierry Henry and Éric Abidal were both ruled out with ankle problems.
The two French internationals picked up knocks in the victory over Almería last weekend and have not recovered in time to be named for the squad. Henry has peritendinitis in his Achilles on his right leg and was told he could not play by club medics, while Abidal received a knock to his right ankle and has been training on his own in a bid to recover.
Neither Henry nor Abidal were able to complete the final training session before the game, which was held behind closed doors in Camp Nou on Wednesday. Rijkaard now has to work without two of the players that have played the most minutes for the team this season so far.
