Ronaldinho on target as Brazil thrash Ecuador 5-0
Ronaldinho had an excellent game and scored the second goal in Brazil’s 5-0 demolition of Ecuador in their World Cup qualifier in the Maracaná.
Brazil recovered from their poor performance against Colombia last Sunday to beat Ecuador 5-0 in the second matchday of the qualifying phase for the 2010 World Cup. Ronaldinho played the full 90 minutes in Rio de Janeiro’s legendary Maracaná stadium, scored a goal, and delighted the 80,000 strong crowd with his trademark brand of footballing magic.
Second half goal feast
Brazil took an 18th minute lead thanks to Vágner Love but lacked real punch throughout the first half. However, things changed after the break, with Ronaldinho creating plenty of danger with his penetrating runs and free kicks. In the 76th minute he cleverly deflected a Kaká shot past Ecuador keeper Viteri for Brazil’s second. Ecuador immediately fell to pieces and Kaká added two more and Elano another to give Brazil an easy win. They now have 4 points and sit in second place behind Argentina, who have 6 points.
