Getting ready for Valladolid
Today’s training session was tougher than yesterday’s. Abidal was absent, as he has an individual training plan to follow.
After Monday had focussed on recuperation from the 2-0 win against Almería, Tuesday’s session was more focused on Thursday’s trip to Valladolid. Frank Rijkaard put together an intense session at La Masia, although Abidal, who hurt his ankle on Sunday, was missing.
Plenty of ball
After the usual warm-up drills, the players practiced control and passing in pairs. They then divided into two groups, the defenders on one side of the pitch, the midfielders and forwards in the other. Both parties worked on combination moves starting from the wings and ending with shots on goal. This part over, Thierry Henry retired to the dressing rooms.
Goals for Giovani and Bojan
The session ended with a game on a scaled down pitch. The blue bibs were worn by Jorquera, Ezquerro, Giovani, Oleguer, Gudjohnsen, Iniesta, Thuram, Márquez and Bojan, who faced the bib-less Valdés, Sylvinho, Milito, Xavi, Puyol, Ronaldinho, Messi, Zambrotta and Touré Yaya. Youngsters Giovani and Bojan once again demonstrated their goalscoring skills with one each for the blue team.
