Eidur Gudjohnsen: "I am only thinking about Barça"
Eidur Gudjohnsen has insisted that he has never thought about leaving FC Barcelona and was pleased with his performance in the Champions League encounter with Rangers in Glasgow on Tuesday evening.
The Icelandic international told a press conference that he has no intention of changing clubs when the winter transfer window opens at the end of the year and is only thinking about maintaining his readiness to play for Barça when required. "I am a very positive person and this season I have prepared for every type of situation," he said. "January is still a long way off and I am only thinking about the next game. Will I go to another team? I am staying here. That is easy."
The best is yet to come
After suffering an injury during pre-season, Gudjohnsen admitted that he was still not fully fit. "I could not do pre-season with the squad because of that and it did hold me back," he continued. "You have not seen the real Gudjohnsen yet this season, but I intend to make use of every minute in games and training. The truth is that I felt very comfortable against Rangers playing in midfield. I think that I played well, but I do not know if I will have more opportunities to play in that position again. It will depend on the coach."
Highly motivated
With an optimistic air, Gudjohnsen believes that Barça will be successful again this season after missing out o a trophy last term. "I think the team is highly motivated and has the desire to win everything," he continued. "Last year has been completely forgotten and the team now only wants to look forward."
