A busy calendar
After the current break for international matches, FC Barcelona face a marathon run of 7 matches in 21 days.
Starting on 21st October, Barça face a busy calendar of league and Champions League matches, totalling 7 matches in 21 days.
21 days without a break
Between 21st and 28th October, Barça travel to Villarreal for the 8th matchday of the Spanish league. Two days later they go to Scotland to take on Glasgow Rangers in the Champions League after which they return to Barcelona to take on Almeria in La Liga. The following week, Barça have a Wednesday night match in the Nuevo Zorrilla against Valladolid followed by a home clash against Betis at the weekend. The marathon continues with the fourth matchday of the Champions League group stage against Rangers in the Camp Nou, finishing off with an away league game against Getafe on 11th November.
An encouraging precedent
A tight calendar is nothing new to the Barça players – they experienced a similar marathon from 16th September to 7th October. Such a glut of matches might appear at first hand to be detrimental to the team. However, Barça managed one draw and 6 consecutive wins, catapulting them to second place in the league and first place in their group in the Champions League.
